Dana Pasquale

Co-Director Dana K. Pasquale, MPH, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Population Health Sciences at Duke University. Dr. Pasquale is an infectious diseases epidemiologist who combines social network and pathogen genetic data to study infectious disease transmission networks. Her work falls into several domains, including reconstructing transmission pathways through poorly observed networks; applying models to transmission networks to identify hotspots or to locate gaps in the infectious care cascade; and assessing the socialbiological intersection of how pathogen properties, the social and physical environment, and contact patterns may facilitate or hinder transmission.24-27 Dr. Pasquale also has interest in exploring the joint effects of environmental conditions, including poor air quality and acute heat exposures, on health outcomes including premature mortality.28,29 She is currently leading the development of a reproducible data infrastructure for integrating longitudinal environmental data, addressing methodological challenges in multi-temporal exposure assessment. Dr. Pasquale co-mentors students in Sociology and NSOE and has research collaborators among the faculty of both divisions.30-32 She will contribute her expertise in mentoring students across these divisions and will provide training opportunities. Dr. Pasquale is a member of the Climate x PopHealth working group.
