Director Hayden Bosworth, PhD, is a health services researcher and Professor of Population Health Sciences, Medicine, Psychiatry, and Nursing at Duke University Medical Center as well as the Vice Chair of Research in the Department of Population Health Sciences. Dr. Bosworth focuses on the intersection of climate-health areas from an implementation science perspective. His expertise is in patient-centered, multidisciplinary self-management programs for adults with chronic disease. Bosworth’s research on climate and health encompasses a wide range of studies and interventions in the context of chronic diseases and behavioral health interventions. Key findings include insights on health disparities and misinformation, medication adherence, and telehealth. Dr. Bosworth has been the Principal Investigator of over 30 trials involving medication adherence resulting in over 470 peer-reviewed publications and four books. He has devoted significant effort to mentorship, formally mentoring over 140 graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and junior faculty including over 30 career development awardees.20-23 He was the PI of a K12 NHLBI-funded grant to train faculty in dissemination and implementation. Dr. Bosworth’s training and prior research experience, particularly within the context of methodology, as well as his success in mentoring will allow him to successfully lead the IMPACT IGEC.
