Sudha Raman

Co-Director Sudha R. Raman, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Population Health Sciences at Duke University. Dr. Raman is a healthcare epidemiologist and team scientist who uses epidemiological methods and study design principles to answer pressing questions in partnership with clinical collaborators, including understanding how climate-related exposures affect vulnerable populations and health systems. She also evaluates the use of routinely collected data in clinical research and the development of scientific and operational research processes in population health research. She currently co-leads the Climate X PopHealth Working Group, has ongoing collaborations with NSOE (Heat Hub), and several climate-related projects with clinical partners and student collaborators.33 Dr. Raman teaches 2 population health methods courses, supervises both MS and PhD students, and is co-lead of a recently funded Bass Connections project regarding climate change and mental health. Dr. Raman brings extensive experience in designing interdisciplinary studies that bridge environmental science with clinical applications, and has developed novel approaches for analyzing real-world data to assess climate impacts on health outcomes. Her work exemplifies the cross-disciplinary integration central to the IMPACT IGEC model, and her mentorship style emphasizes methodological rigor while fostering creative problem-solving across traditional academic boundaries.
